We have assisted many clients from within and out of Louisiana with their gaming regulatory needs, from applying for licenses in out of state jurisdictions, in assisting them through the procedures here with our Gaming Commission. This may also include Governmental Relations work in obtaining the client’s needs.
For our Estate Planning and Succession clients, we provide a free initial consultation in order to fully understand your unique personal situation. We provide solutions such as creating wills, health care powers of attorney, durable (business) powers of attorney, trusts (testamentary, revocable or an irrevocable life insurance trusts). We do everything possible to minimize taxes and provide for a smooth transition of your family’s assets.

ABOUT ATTORNEY JAMES VILAS
James Vilas is the principal of the law firm and is a life-long resident of Baton Rouge receiving three degrees from Louisiana State University (LSU) including his Juris Doctorate and his Bachelor of Civil Law.
Mr. Vilas was a past board member of the Louisiana Economic Development & Gaming Board (Casino Board) which was created to establish rules and procedures to regulate the only land-based casino authorized in Louisiana which is located in New Orleans. He and the Board created the rules, the bidding and suitability processes, and established the contract which was entered into between Harrah’s Entertainment and the State of Louisiana. He has assisted many clients with gaming regulatory matters, from individual and company licensing, to the transition of selling entities which hold Louisiana gaming licenses. He has represented clients from other states and countries and has been successful in getting them licensed. He has also assisted clients entering into out of state gaming markets.
Attorney Vilas has served on many municipal and state-wide boards as well as civic groups. He brought the first senior-level semi-pro soccer franchise to Baton Rouge (Baton Rouge Capitals) and successfully assisted several players in negotiating their professional contracts. He is an avid soccer enthusiast coaching at various levels of the sport, as well as being the main sponsor for the longest operating Latin League here in our area.
Having held a Louisiana Real Estate Broker’s license for over 30 years, Mr. Vilas can assist you in your negotiations or contractual needs with your next real estate transaction or can even represent you as your real estate broker.
Mr. Vilas’ family is from Spain and he continues to be fluent in Spanish so he assists many clients with minor traffic, criminal or personal injury matters. He continues to assist the Hispanic community by working with related churches and places of worship and directing their congregations in obtaining needed resources to be successful and self-sufficient.
